English Yew (Taxus Baccata)

The English , Taxus Baccata, is found on the chalk hangers that dissect the landscape. Yew, once used to provide the english armies with long bows, is an exceptionally robust wood which is mainly due to its extended period of slow growth. Its fine grain is alive with knots swirling in orange and purple hues and fringed with a lively yellow sap wood.

The yew wood used in the making of all these products was felled a long time before the company started trading in 1996, or has been felled as mneans to maintain commom pasture land on the local hangers.
