As soon as the thermostat opens, top it off again. When the top radiator hose starts getting warm the thermostat has opened. After it's filled as much as possible, follow this advice. Drive till up to operating temp, let cool completely. Fill the reservoir, and repeat 2 more times. Driving around corners when getting up to temp will assist in the burping process.
